Anyone have any experience with MILTEC-1 synthetic metal conditioner?
I am currently trying this paticular gun oil and am interested in what sort of cleaning practices I should be following (after a day at my range). I shoot quite a lot of hard cast lead and sometimes have to perform an aggressive cleaning job. Will MILTEC-1 stay bonded as claimed by the company?

Synthetics are wonderful whatever the application. Being manmade, they can be designed to do anything you want. Unlike products made in nature that are adapted to a need, sometimes with unwanted side effects.
I have used synthetics made for firearms, although not the particular brand you name. Following the manufactures instructions, I have found them to do pretty much what they claim.
You shouldn't take any shortcuts until you know all the properties and capabilities of the product. I believe you will find them a viable alternative.

A lot of your synthetics will handle a wider range of temperatures so they are less likely to gel up in the cold and boil off when the gun gets hot

Miltec seems to work well for me. When I clean a semi auto gun, I assume it needs to be relubed. The stated bonding properties are probably applied to a gun in-between cleaning and lubrication--i.e. that the stuff is less likely to dry up and evaporate as some other oils. A lot of guys in LE aren't tuned into regular field stripping their sidearms for lubrication and this sort of product might save their hide if they miss out on timely maintenance.

Miltec-1 is a *SUPER* lubricant and a far better product than Breakfree CLP. I've used it for several years now and could not be happier with it. For slides, I prefer the Blue Wonder Armadillo, but for protection of non-bearing surfaces without the residue which attracts dust & other debris, MILTEC-1 works slick as a trout.
One of the lessons brought home to the military in the recent campaigns is that the latter product will attract & retain crap while MILTEC-1 does not. MILTEC-1 is an approved military purchase item now and there is at least one serving officer on this board who specifies its use by personnel in his command - which is operating in a combat zone. That in itself is a pretty high recommendation IMHO.

You need to read the instructions for any specific lubricant.
Militec-1 makes a "Synthetic Weapons Lubricant" that can be applied to all metal surfaces. It's effectiveness increases with heat & repeated applications.
Militec-1 also makes a "Synthetic Metal Conditioner" (grease) that can be used on certain metal-to-metal surfaces, such as the normal grease points of the M1, M14, & M16 rifle.
