Burgsmuller double barrell Value
My Father has an old double barrell Shotgun, the name is Burgsmuller, the other writing is Kriensen or Kniesen, breaks at the breach, damascus twist barrell, double trigger, the only numbers are under the barrell at the breach. The numbers are 26. Infront of the trigger guard there is an engraving of a fox and hound. So far no one has been able to ID this gun for him. I hope somebody out there can be of some help. I really would like to know the value estimate.

If my memory is correct, Kniesen is a village in the area known as the "Danzig" corridor that was siezed by Hitlers Nazi forces in 1939, try a search for Galacia, and the name Burgsmuller or Burgsmeuller 0 -
Do a search for "the Double Gun BBS" and put your question to the guys there. First pull the forend off and write down or photograph all the markings on the flats of the reciever ("water table") and the corresponding flats of the barrels. Those spots are where most of the identifying information will be stamped and will answer some of the most important questions (What ctg length is safe, is it proofed for smokeless, when was it made, etc.). Try posting that information here on this forum and on the BBS.
There are many European "mystery shotguns" that were made by small and defunct makers and/or famous makers who didn't mark the famous name and sold their guns to a small and usually defunct retailer (Sometimes the COUNTRIES that these guns were made in or sold in are defunct....). But I've found that if you give the BBS guys and the guys on this forum ALL the information stamped on the gun, you are likely to get answers.0 -
H. Burgsmuller & Sohne (son), Kreiensen Germany, circa 1890's. Their shotgun has rather fancy engraving, typical of the German craftsmen of the period. 0
