45/38 auto
In a box of stuff that I got at an auction I found what looks like a 45 auto case necked down to 38. Looks like a 158 grain simi-wad cutter in it like we used to cast for shooting 38/357. Is this a one of a kind or is this a popular hot round for a rebarrel 1911??? I never saw one before. Thanx Steve

Was fairly popular for a while, known primarily as the .38/45. Bain & Davis was one of the marketers.

Hello this cartridge was used for a short time by some bulls-eye shooters that were looking for less recoil then a 45 but useing a 45 1911 type frame and slide.As most of us reload and shoot alot it was found to have the common bottle-neck in a pistol problem and case life was very poor so this load faded away."PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN" 0 -
