French 1935 Pistol

Somewhere in the dark scary recesses of my mind I remember reading that a .30 carbine case could be cut off and the cut portion forced into the chamber of a 1935 to serve as a chamber adapter allowing .32 ACP to fire in the pistol. The length would be critical because the cartridge headspaces on the front of chamber.
Can anyone tell me how long this cut off section should be?

    In Donnelly's Book of Cartridge Conversions, you use .32 S&W Long and turn down the rim. These function fine.

    What you are proposing sounds like Rube Goldberg but if it works let me know.

    I think I read that in Pistolsmithing by George Nonte but I could not find my book.
    Turning down case rims on .32 Long sounds better
