Enfield 308
Was the Enfield ever made in 308?
There is one in the local paper for $150.
It makes me wonder if he miss read it for the 303.

It's an Ishapore Enfield,made in India. Some Enfield purists don't like them, but if the bore is good,it's a hell of a rifle! They look just like a "normal" Enfield,other than the mag holds 12 rounds,are still used in India to this day.I love mine. It shoots as well as my Mausers and Mosins. 0 -
I used to have one that was tankerized, and what I came to understand was that the Ishapore made Enfields were that last generation to be made and as such were redesigned using modern steels for the .308 cartridge. Some days I'm sorry that a friend offered me a M99 Savage .308 featherweight for it. Still I really like the M99, too. I guess I'll just have to watch for and buy another Ishapore. 0 -
I seem to remember that there were small and large ringed near the bolt. The small ring should not use 7.62 NATO, the large ring is OK. Best, Robert[;)]

I have one, and it looks like new. While I haven't shot it yet, it appears to be well made. It seemed funny to me being a 308, but it really is one. Magazines are a little hard to find. 0 -

Bought my British Enfield 303 at Kmart in 1968. Paid $18.00. I call it the "Deer Slayer"!! Best deer rifle I have. Made a few changes on it. Removed screw sites and put scope on, made brass cover and removed clip. Load from side. Nice gun 0
