TZ 75 vs CZ 75

There is a TZ-75 on commision at my gunsmith's shop.
How is it different from a CZ-75 ?
I'm going back to the shop tomorrow. It appears LNIB, but $ 425 seems a little high...it may appear as NIB, but it is used. What do you think ?

    If I remember right, the TZ-75 is the earlier version of the Italian Tanfoglio gun now sold under the name Witness. Back then the gun was imported by FIE (which is defunct). The current guns are imported by EAA.

    $425 does seem steep to me considering that NIB authentic Czech CZ-75Bs can be had for about that price. New, or like new Witnesses can be had for $300 or so, and even used TZ-75s can be seen for that price on Gunbroker. So I wouldn't pay that much for a TZ unless it came with a caliber conversion, or other extra goodies. (With a caliber conversion to either .22 or .40 that would be a fair price).

    I have shot the Witness fairly extensively (not a TZ), and I think the CZ-75 is the better gun in terms of better fit and finish, and better trigger. How is the TZ different? It might have a slide mounted safety (depends on model), where as the CZ does not. Most of the parts will NOT interchange between the two, though the TZ will take CZ mags (though not necessarily the other way around. . .depends on exact gun and mag). TZ's may have wood grips, which is nice.

    The TZ/Witness is still a pretty strong, reliable duty-type gun, and for a reliable modern built full sized, full caliber high-cap service automatic at $300 its a relative bargain.

    Beantown has hit the nail on the head, the TZ/witness is a copy that they simplified to make manufacturing easier than the CZ. $300 is more in line.

    If the TZ-75 is one of the rare "stainless-steel" versions and especially if it is in 10mm, it is worth every penny of $425. If it is in fact a "stanless-steel" version
    NOT the "wonder-finish" and it is in 10 mm, and you don't want it, PLEASE contact me and give me the name and telephone number of the gunsmith's shop. I will have my recieving agent make contact with them and it will become mine.

    AQH, I forgot about the early stainless guns. I know where there is a 38 super at currently. I have been trying to buy it for a few years.
