Colt 45 DA 1917 Blue Civillian snub nose?

Can't find where any of this model have been sold on-line. Mine is in good condtion. Where can I look to find approx value. Does not say Sheriff anywhere on it but looks just like them. It has COLT DA 45 stamped on side of barrel and ATES PROPERTY stamped on the bottom side of barrel. SN's match on all parts and starts with SN209...gun fires right on target.

  Hello if it is a model 1917 double action is it 45acp or 45colt? If it has a snub nose barrel I suspect it has been cut off and not factory. just my $.02 worth. but pictures would be a big help.

  Here are photos of the gun. Looks like Perry Shooter nailed it. The inscription on the bottom is obviously part of UNITED STATES PROPERTY. It is a unique gun, so it's not possible to place a value on it. But, it won't be much.

  Probably has very little (if any) collector value but I really like it! Nice gun. It would make a great, different, carry gun...
