Need help identifying 45 GI auto

I have a 1917 (according to serial number. US number and not C number. The gun is blued and the slide is marked MODEL OF 1911 US ARMY. No Italics. It has Colt markings with Rampart in middle. The slide is marked only with Serial number which corresponds to 1917. It is prefixed with No With dash under o before serial number.It has the 1911A1 handgrip that looks original to gun with small hammer and long trigger. It appears slide stop has been changed to non checkered. I bought from WW2 vets family and they say he used it in the military and has had it since. Bought from elderly wife and also bought German bayonet with it. Slide and frame all all blued and looks the same. Barrel is HS. Can anyone shed some light on this 45 auto for me. Thanks.

    How do I pos photos? The original holster is a US Graton and Knight Co. and has an emblem of crossed swords with a tank in middle.

    how big is the front blade? is it reeeal small or average? when you look down the sights, does it appear to be wafer thin or bulkier? if bulkier, its a 1911A1 colt slide. 1911 grips should be wood with diamonds, not plastic, right guys?

    Front sight wafer thin. Grips are checkered with colt rampart.
