Combat Commander

I have a Colt Combat Commander that shoots great, functions great and looks great. The problem-when I fire it the brass hits me directly in the forehead. It is obviously a problem with the extractor or ejector or both. Any ideas how can I correct this?

    I have a Colt Combat Commander and the barrel link pin will come out easily when the slide is removed. Is this o.k. ? The pin stays in place and the gun has no problem cycling.

    It was made around 1973, & came in a wood-grain cardboard box with foam liner. The finish was called "satin nickel", & many owners had problems with the finish caused by use of Hoppes 9 solvent. It had uncheckered sandblasted grips with a silver Colt medallion, not the grips shown. While technically called a "70 series" Colt, it did not have the same changes that were made to the full size "70 series" Colt's.

    Colt Commander Satin Nickel. 70 series. The satin nickel is a hard finish to find, and should bring more than standard blue if in great shape (tough finish to keep clean and if scraped almost impossible to fix). There are four of these on Gun Broker right now.
    Looking at the 16 that sold in last 90 days on GB, at $495-775.00 Average price looks to be $525-575. Seems a bit low to me, have seen these sell in shops for $650-775.00

    The most obvious feature is the "collet" barrel bushing that holds the front of the barrel. In the 70-series, this has spring steel fingers that keep the front of the barrel aligned.

    All of the above is correct. I've had three, refinished 2 one went to a son, one to a son-in-law, and the other has been carried for years. The best advice was "keep it!" Scarce? the Blue Book says so but if I had a nickel for everyone I have run across I could retire.

    Yours appears to be pristine could command a higher price, but the $575 range seems realistic...just my 2 cents
