New Model 70 trigger

Are they not as adjustable as the old ones. Played with one today that would not go under 4 1/2 lbs even with the trigger weight of pull spring completely removed. Is there a kit availble to change out trigger and sear springs to make it much nicer?

It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

    How can the greatest trigger mechanism, as we have been told since 1935, be replaced by a better one in 2008. Any opinions out there?

    Which model 70? What caliber?

    I set the trigger on my super shadow for "varmint" to sight it in But, because it's a 270 WSM and I got it for antelope, I'll want to put a little more on it. I didn't put a trigger-pull scale on it, but I know from experience that it's more than a hair too light for hunting. Oh, it's cool on the bench, but in the field, I'd like more trigger.

    YOUR GUNSMITH SHOULD BE ABLE TO CLEAN UP THE TRIGGER, THESE ARE GOOD 'HUNTING' TYPE TRIGGERS AND NORMALY CAN BE ADJUSTED TO 2 TO 3 LBS. MECHANICALY THEY ARE THE SAME AS THE PRE-64 M-70'S.

    m wiskey has it. your gunsmith can pollish it up a bit and will help bunches. i had one that would not do less than 4.5 pounds. with a little polishing i could get as low as 1/2 pound. then adjusted the spring to where i needed/liked it

    i dont leave the triggers at 1/2 pound. i just take it down to there and adjust up from there.what i carry into the field is 3 pounds. i had one varmet gun at 1.5 but that was strickly a bench gun.

    That makes more sense. My 22-250 has a Canjar set well under a pound, but it's strictly a bench/prairie dog gun. I'm going to take my model 70 (.270WSM) coyote hunting the end of October to see how a light trigger feels in the field. I like a light trigger, but I want more confidence that I can safely hunt with it.
