Colt 1911proof marks

I have a Colt 1911 made in 1918 marked U.S.Army and United States Property. it has an eagle over ss on the frame and a 51 on the trigger guard. What do these proof marks mean?

  The eagle over S5 on the frame is the Army Ordnance inspector's mark; the 51 is a Colt inspection mark.
