What are everyones thoughts on the walther P22, Im looking for a .22 that everyone from my parents, girlfriend and myself can enjoy. I really love the look of the walther, any PRO's and CON's I should know about?

    Hello All,

    I would like to know if I can lessen the trigger pull. If so, how would I go about doing it?
    Is there another trigger group I could buy, etc.

    Have seen this happen with several guns, in each case all it took was different placement of the thumb. If you shoot right handed, try shooting left handed and see if the safety still comes on by itself.

    Known problem.

    Let the slide come forward slowly, you will see that there is a gap between the safety roll bar and the slide, the hammer will hang in the gap. The hammer is rolling the safety as the slide comes back. Ground off a couple thousands off the top of the hammer. Check out the 8 things to modify the P22 at http://www.rimfirecentral.com/
    Go to the Walther forum.
    Problems:
    1. the slide hangs on the hammer
    2. the safety can be rotated by the hammer
    3. the barrel nut comes loose
    4. the stove bolts that hold the frame together come loose
    5. The slide cracks
    6. Spent casings are routinely ejected into your face.
    7. The barrel stabilizer is difficult to tighten tight enough to hold it in place without overtightening and damaging it.
    8. The gun locks up if the slide is operated with the internal safety on.

    DUH, grind off the top of the hammer, not the trigger, don't take off too much or it will not lock the hammer back. Both myself and my wife have P22's and love them after I modified the hammer, magazine latch and the extractor.

    User '1917-M1911' started the modifications and has over 40,000 rounds through his P22 since. There are pictures and descriptions of how to do the modifications.

    There is a well written 3 part post about disassembling and cleaning the P22. I copied the pictures and instructions and put it into an MS Word document, I am going to convert it to Adobe PDF so it will always be available when I need it. Did the same with the modifications info and pictures just in case.
