Star 1911A1, 9mm Nazi Marked
I won at auction a Star, made in Spain, 1911A1 clone. It has Nazi proofs, finish was buffed and re-blued with 97% remaining, good bore and grips. Serial #23854X Paid $300. (I have not rec'd. it yet).
I've heard mix things about Star, but this one is beautiful and the Nazi marks sold me. Is anyone familiar with these 1911 clones. Are 9mm American made 1911 parts interchangeble? Did I spend too much?

Nothing wrong with a Star. Decent pistols. I don't know what the going price for them are at the moment but I would say $300 is C+ or B-

I know about the connection between Franco of Spain and Hitler, but did not know the Nazis used these.0 -
Don't take my word as gospel dolfan, all I know about your peticular pistol is that "star is a decent pistol" lol. I've had a couple, they all worked good and shot well. As for your guns history, if the nazi markings are authentic, that I don't know and would refer you to a more knowledgeable person, however, my opinion is that you did ok for $300. I might have tried to talk him down $25 or so but, no big deal, that's just me. [:D]

I've got several Star pistols and like them for the money, the nazi proofs add value, the refinishing is a negative. Keep in mind these are not 1911a1 clones, more like a john browning knock off, parts do not interchange and there are some design changes depending on the model you have/are getting. 0 -
You have a Star B. If the Waffenamts are legit, and some aren't as a particular importer brought some into the country after he had them stamped with fake markings, you weapon is worht a good deal more than you paid for it.
As you got it so cheap, have someone do a hands on for you.0 -

NOT to say anything about the "Nazi-marks" on your Star, b?t it's the first time ever I hear about them on a Star - and belive me - I have seen a lot of nazi-marked pistols!
Is there a waffen-amt number - eagel with number under - on it?
If there is, I can try to find some more about it,

Pistole Star Kaliber 08
The company of Bonifacio Echverria SA of Ilbar produced a number of pistols based on the Browning designed Colt 1911. The main difference was the lack of a Grip Safety. The small caliber types were of similar shape but were simple blowback weapons. The Model B was a locked breech weapon fitting the 9mm Parabellum round, ideally suited to German Needs. The German government purchases over 35,000 of these pistols and marked them WaA 25

If you are serious about wanting to know about your pistol, THE book to get is AXIS PISTOLS by Jan Still. It list EVERY pistol used by the Nazi's by individual serial number and block.
With beautiful, clear photographs and broken down by type.
Fluw, you might learn something new too. Like that the Nazi forces also used and marked a licenced copy of the Colt 1911 in .45 ACP!0 -

Wasn't the 1911 copy that the Nazi's used made when they captured a factory in finland or norway or somewhere around that area? I remember reading about it, but don't remember which country it was in.

Yes the Norwegian Kongsberg 1914 - used by German second line units -guard etc - pretty common here.
I only talked from what I have seen with my own two eyes - and I have seen a lot of funnu things from that time period - but there were no Star model B among them.
So in that respekt, I can now add a new piece of knowledge to the big puzzle.
