Problem with .303 British

For the fist time I took the bolt out of my 1942 .303 British to give it a good cleaning, and when I went to put it back in, it would go in but it wouldn't fully lock down, and the hammer would not fire when trigger is pulled. I have no idea what this problem could be. If anyone knows what or hot ot fix this problem please let me know.

  Sounds like the bolt head needs to be screwed in one more turn to me.

  i take it is a no4 or no 5?? they have replacable bolt heads so that you can ajust the heaqd spacing so you must of unwound it and not screwed it all the way back in. I did the same thing with my first 303 the night i got it a few years back. lol
