Mil Surplus Ammo Importation

I have heard rumors that importation of foreign military surplus ammo will be stopped from importation in 2006 due to a UN mandate.
Anybody know of any facts to this rumor?

    Actually, the UN is trying to pressure it's members to approve a ban on private ownership of firearms. But, with the appointment of John Bolton as US ambassador to the UN, nothing will happen in this area under the current administration.

    But the UN has convinced some countries to start destroying their surplus instead of selling it. That's why you can't find cheap .223 South African battle packs anymore.....
