springfield 1873 "trapdoor" carbine

Hi everyone been a while since my last post, but i have a question,
what could you expect to pay for a pre 1876 version of a us/springfield model 1873 "trapdoor" carbine in good condition?

  First thing is to make sure it is an original carbine, not a cut-down rifle. Difference in value is tremendous. A quick check is to look at the fore end for a plugged ramrod hole. If there is no evidence of a plugged hole, look some more because it can be worth a lot of money to someone to do a good job of concealment. There are other differences such as sights, how the muzzle is crowned etc. that you may learn about in the websites above. I avoided a rip off just by studying the ramrod hole plug.
