HK Compact vs. Glock G31
Im concidering purchasing either the glock or the HK but i have not heard a whole lot about the two of them...just looking for any experiences or preferences as to which you prefer and why...also, i am looking at the 31C (Compensated) any pros/cons there?

This is a "Whats better, Ford or Chevy" topic. I have owned several of both and got rid of all my Glocks. To me, the H&K is an all around better firearm. H&K has a side safty, hammer with decocker, half cocked hammer like all your marlin rifles. They have the same rifling design, so accuracy is not a factor. Its all in the shooter here. Its all about features here. The glock only has a finger tab safety, and I could never get used to that.
My suggestion - go to your local gun shop and handle all of the different brands and models. You might find an entirely different gun that fits your hand, or price.

It's what gun you can shoot better....... Try the HK's and the Glock's. Then you will know what gun is better for you. Just like what "nyforester" was saying... When you buy a car, you try different one's out before you buy. Same with guns.... [:)]

The one thing that I have to add is that I had a Glock model 22 (bought from a cop) and the only thing I liked about it was the high cap clips and the ease of breakdown for cleaning. I hated that I couldn't de-kock the gun and the grouping of anything over about 8 yards (could have just been me though). My cousin is a cop and bought the HK for fun, I have shot it a couple times and in my opinion there was not much comparison.
Glock has a popular name....but that doesn't always mean much

HK's are sexy and debonaire,..glocks are gangsta rappers. Real simple for me,...HK or Sig, then everything else.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

I prefer HK for the following reasons:
1. It's more comfortable in my hands (large rough textured grips)
2. I shoot very poorly with every Glock I have tried (I think it doesn't fit my hands well)
3. I've shot a lot with glock owners and seen a number of malfuntions, misfeeds, etc. My H&K USP Compact has never yet misfeed or failed to fire after 1000 rounds, and my HK USP fullsize has done it once out of 3000+ rounds
4. I like the decocker and safety
Just because I like HKs and dislike Glocks doesn't mean that you won't have the opposite reaction when you shoot them both. Go to a range, rent them and see how they each work for you. I'd also consider throwing a SIG into the mix. They are a great gun and in some ways could be thought of as a cross between the other two. They have a decocker but no safety, they have slightly smaller and smoother grips than the HK and have a very nice factory trigger pull in my opinion.

I would go with the SIG. Oh wait, that wasn't one of the options. I guess I would take the HK over the Glock.
