About desiccants and oxy absorbers for guns, ammo

I've heard that desiccants and oxy absorbers are good for prohibiting
oxidation and moisture. I'm thinkig of getting some for my ammo can and my gun tool box--mebbe some for my guns too. Question--Will either these dry up/absorb the lubricating oil inside guns?

  No, they only absorb water. But, the downside is that when the crystals are saturated, they stop working, & you have to dry them out in your oven. They will saturate quickly if your ambient air is really humid &/or your containers are not sealed.
  
  Over the years, most gun lubricants will break down, no matter what you do. That is, they will become gummy. Fortunately, there are several spray solvents that will soften/remove the gum.
