whats it worth?

i have a model 27 s/w 357 6" configuration in the presentation case with all tools, appx. 90% or better, however it also has a companion cylinder for 357/44 bain and davis. I have also acquired all the dies, brass, reloading manuals,etc for the 357/44 cartridge. i know what i have spent, but whats it worth or is beauty in the eye of the beholder.

    While NM's answer would normally be correct for a Hopkins & Allan there are some H&A's that bring larger sums (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=37684473) I suggest until someone can get their BB and give you an honest answer try looking it up on the GB auctions or another firearms auction site. Also buy the BB from amazon.com for cheap now before they go up in april or may.

    This is another of those "if it isn't in your hands.....", it's tough to give a good answer. Blue Book lists a Number 44XL, smooth bore, chambered in 44XL shotshell referred to also as 'Taxidermists' or
    'Ladies Gun'. The only other larger caliber than .22 rimfire these are listed as are .32 rimfire, .25 rimfire, .25-20WCF, .38 S&W. Be sure to have the chamber checked for size before you try a .45-70 or sell as such, especially since it is smoothbore, as it appears more likely you have the 44XL shotshell.

    This might be one of those that if it is a 44XL, because of its oddity, age, and use, might happen to have a better value than Blue Book. Condition is in the eye of the beholder, to some extent. What would be a 60% for a gun from the 1940's would probably be rated better than that if made in the 1890's. It wouldn't hurt to take this gun to a couple gun shows. You might find a bonifide expert and/or collector who could at least tell you more about it accurately.
