32 Shot

I've acquired a 1915 Stevens Favorite 32 Shot. I thought ammunition would be very hard to find but not impossible. Anyone know the history of the 32 shot or where at least one shell can be acquired?

    welcome to the boards!
    there are numerous people on this site that can guide you to one. i was always told that any brass case shot round was designed to allow farmers inexpensive ways to rid gardens of pests. actual shot guns were for flying critters and shot rounds were for ground pests. i beleive early rounds were hollow cork and newer ones were crimped paper, then paper cards. maybe the experts can help us out here.
    using other calibers for a ref, here are some examples of the types of heads.

    I would suspect you have a .32 rimfire? Shot loads were produced for .32 S&W as well as both .32 Short & Long RF. None of these is particularly scarce, just not made for a *long* time. Depending on your location, a good bet is to look for cartridge dealers at gun shows. If you go here: http://www.cartridgecollectors.org/ and look to the bottom of the column on the left, it has a link to a listing of cartridge shows around the country. If there is one near you, it is almost certain you can obtain a specimen. You can find the rimfire versions in all three of the styles bobski posted in his photo above.

    Stevens manufactured the Model 20 Favorite that is specifically chambered and marked "32 SHOT". If it is not a Model 20, then I suspect that you are correct that is is marked "32 SHORT".

    If you email me your address, I'd be happy to send you a couple of .32 RF blanks. They are indistinguishable from the shot shells.

    Stevens made a 32 Short rimfire. If you don't see rifling in the barrel ,that's probably what you have.
    Old pistol shot cartridges had a wooden bullet, like photo 2 above, that was hollowed out forming a cup. They were black powder & filled with small shot.
    I tried some out of a 38 S&W short revolver as a kid and they didn't work worth a hoot.
