glock in 10mm
recently put some money down to secure a glock 29 in 10 mm...knowing that its a subcompact gun...how do you guys feel about the round and size of the pistol? think it will be hard to control?

The 10mm is a fantastic round. Like all guns it will take practice to control. You have chosen a very fine calibur and a very good hand gun. My 2 cents [8D]

Just my 2 cents, I would look into the grip extension for the 29. I have a Glock 20 and I'm looking into a Kimber or Dan Wesson 10mm. As Gap1916 said the 10mm is very fine.0 -
it comes with the little extended grip on it...i think i may get a larger one though...not sure...i wish it was a little slimmer, but oh well cant have everything...and im over here in MA in the land of no new glocks and beggers cant be choosers 0 -
The 10mm cartridge is among the best all-around auto cartridges for hunting (in the lower 48 states), conceal carry, or for standard carry or defense. You definately did well on the choice of calibers. The choice of guns is also top-notch. Is it one of the new G29's with the short accessory rail? I haven't decided whether I like those or not...
With the G29, for practice, or for nightstand use, remember you can pop in a G20 magazine into it for 15 +1 rounds. They also make a magazine sleeve that has a set-screw that clamps onto the G20's magazine that will make the G29 feel (grip-wise) like the G20.
I personally don't like the grip extension, they just don't line up correctly for me. I end up just wrapping my finger underneath the magazine.0 -
bambi...it doesnt have an accessory rail...but i didnt realize what a good choice i made...the more o read about the caliber the more i realize the stopping power of it...its great because i was considering of gettin a .44 mag or .357 mag revolver to take with me as a side arm this season into bear country...guess i dont have to now 0 -

The .44 is still well above the 10mm, but top 10mm loads will exceed top .357 loads from equal length barrels. It will also match most standard .41 mag. Velocity suffers a little in short barrels, but much of this can be remedied with faster powders and magnum primers. I use IMR 800x and CCI 350 primers and get 1342 FPS from my 3.5 compact with 180 gr. pills. The same load gets 1406 from a 5" tube. My daily carry gun is my Witness Compact 10mm with this load (bullets are Gold Sabres) and the terminal performance it exhibits in ballistic clay is phenomenal. Congrats!

hunter...i dont plan on using it to hunt, rather as just a side arm...where im going this season has seen alot of bear activity...just want to be ready for the worst case scenario 0 -

Also agree on the follow up posts, the 10mm will take small bears (hunting) and most likely deter even the most determined bear (just for defense). I'm willing to bet my life on my Glock 20 with its 15+1 of DoubleTap ammo at the ready. If I can expend all 16 rounds and he still wants me, then I'll hand the ol' bear a fork I guess. [:D]
