Golden State Arms/ Santa Fe

I have a rifle that I would like a little more info on if anyone can help, it is a Santa Fe model 1946, I know nothing about this gun I received it about 14 years ago. It belonged to my dad who was killed in a wreck and the gun was in his truck it busted the stock and broke the scope. I would like to know what caliber it is, I can't find anything on the gun about the caliber. If you need anymore info just tell me and I will try to find it and thanks for any info.

    "Santa Fe" was a trade name used by Golden State Arms of Pasadena Ca, on a number of different rifles. Best thing would be to post close up pictures of the receiver area of the rifle. This would be the best way for us to help you identify it. If it's a Mauser type it might have been either rebarreled or rechambered? Because of this we could not give you positive identification of the caliber. You would have to take it to a gunsmith to have a "Chamber Cast" done to id the caliber.

    santa fe also made (had made) a knock off 1903-a3 receiver then use surplus parts to complete the rifles. these were in .30/06, quality was so/so.

    There was also a Santa fe Arms that marketed front stuffers. The legend was that they were exact copies of Kit Carsons Hawken, but they were just very well made Italian replicas. They are beauts.

    Golden State Arms/SantaFe division also had several models in which they "sporterised" the British Enfield No.4 MKI military rifle into a hunting rifle. But without pics its hard to say what it is. I know its not a close up picture, but its all I have, does the receiver/magazine resemble this?

    I saw a Golden State Arms sporter for sale today. It was 30-06 caliber built on a DWM Mauser action. The stock was walnut and looked a lot like a Remington 721 stock. Yours might be similar. Are there any German words on the left side of the receiver?
