Benelli M1 4 shot extension

I bought a Benelli 2 shot extension (cheap) but it only added 1 shot. I am not sure why. But I was looking into etting a 4 shot extension. I have had one on backorder from Numerich Arms for almost a month. One just went for $110 on ebay. There is another on up for auction on Ebay and the seller said that the BATF has banned inporting these into the US. Anyone able to verify this?

    I dont know, but the +2 extension is more enjoyable than the +4 to me. The +4 requires you to remove the barrel brace when you are cleaning, and the added spring tension is so much that the added reisistance causes the gun to require heavier loads only.

    I don't understand the logic about "the added spring tension is so much that the added reisistance causes the gun to require heavier loads only". I thought that the added pressure would only be for the first few rounds and then it would basically not have any effect on the loads. It would maybe feed the first few rounds faster.

    How or where would I check to see if these Benelli 4 shot extension are really banned by the ATF?

    Your can buy the Benelli 4 shot extensions in the Shotgun News for about $65.00. Comes with tube, spring, end cap and barrel bracket in a blister pack.

    I have heard nothing about them being banned.

    I posted this question earlier. I have the short and long barrel, the extended mag, and both stocks (one with a pistol grip). If I understood the answer, as long as the short barrel is not installed with the pistol grip and extended mag it is legal.

    If I am wrong, would someone please correct me. I may still be confused about this.

    i dont know about banning, but the +4 was not legal per the AWB if you had a pistol grip stock. this made it some kind of assault gun. ahhh! The spring is heavier than the other benelli ones, and the increased friction on the mechanism that releases the shells (it really shoots them out!) means that on my M1 it will only function with full power loads, where field loads will work with the +2

    There are certain configurations that applied prior to the AWB in which options couldn't be added together. I'll let someone else handle the legal stuff since the only one I know for sure is the M3 and it's a whole different animal...

    As for the extension, it's pretty much been hashed out, but the last time I went into my local store they still had both +2's and +4's. I think they were a tad higher than the SGN price listed above. I can check next time I go in if you can't get them from any other source.
    I had no feed problems when I did a test fitting of the +4 on both my M3 and SBE. I didn't use the barrel clamp since it was just for temporary use. It did feed fine through both of them and I'd expect the M1 would be the same. The only one that might be different (in my opinion) would be the gas-operated M4 since it might operate at a different speed or manner which might hang it up.

    The true Benelli extensions are no longer imported into the States. I'm sure it has something to do with the import ban, but I'm not sure. If you find one they aren't cheap. I've seen them over $200. You can get a TacStar mag extension tube from Ipactguns cheap. It's a little different in finish (not bad), but it works wonderfully. The Benelli is inertia driven, so sometimes when you add weight to the shotgun it tends to operate differently. I haven't noticed this with mine. I've just heard others say that. I think alot of that has to do with people putting on side saddles with too much tension. The receiver is aluminum, and if you put it on too tight you bind up the bolts action. Hince the shotgun only operating with higher power loads. I'll know if this is all true after I put a side saddle on mine. The damn thing is getting heavy.

    I have an HK imported M1. I belive it has the +4 as it comes flush with the end of the 20" bbl (I bought it like that). I am not sure how the magazine spring would affect what kind of loads you can run in the gun. I have had the gun for 5 yrs now and put tons of rounds through it. I have been shooting the $35/250 remington "gun club" loads 1 1/8 oz, ie cheep ammo, with no problems. It will NOT cycle any of the light recoil loads I have tried, bought by accident and it wont cycle the 1 oz loads either. I do understand how the weight difference can affect what loads it will fire though. Lets talk about round count on mine, 7 in the mag, 1 in the chamber, 1 on the follower for 9 in the gun. 6 on the side saddle, 6 on the buttstock for a total of 21 rounds on the gun. Again I have never had a problem with the exception of the cheep "light recoil" loads. I dont know about the ban stuff. I am not sure how even durring the AWB how it would be considered as such unless you could get 2 more rounds in the gun because 10 was the magic number. If this topic isnt locked by the time I get home I will post a pic of mine.

    Interesting. I have the same version and it cycles my WIN and reloaded 1oz and 1 1/8oz skeet loads.

    I shoot skeet and trap with it when I put the longer barrel on.
