Best .22 LR Ammo
What is the best .22 LR ammo for my Buck Mark Hunter ? I don't
consider it a " Smallbore Mouse Gun " as others would , so I'd like
to choose a load with good expanison and penetration just in case.
I've seen ads for CCI's TNT .22 WMR Maxi Mag but it didn't say
anything about Long Rifle . Does anybody make a Magnum LR or am I
just dreaming ?
I've read about " Hornady " V-Max rifle bullets with polymer tips
for .22 ( .224 Dia. ) with 35 , 40 , 50 , 55 and 60 Gr. but no
mention of Long Rifle loads. This is my first .22 and I sure could
use some info from you fellas .

Try blue tag, green tag and wolf .22 {I do not shoot any other wolf ammo except .22}, try some aguila, it is not in question on what I or you like, it is what the gun likes
The hornady you speak of are just bullets to be reloaded for .22 caliber high powered rifles0 -
Both of my rugers like the winchester power points. 40 gr hollow points. 0 -
CCI Stingers (light bullet) or CCI Velocitors (heavy bullet). 0 -
I use Federal Game Shock 40grain. [8D]

TRY different loads for accuracy. .22s are picky. the bullets you listed are for reloading centerfire only. for defense just use cci stingers. 0 -
Try a bunch to see what your buckmark likes. .22's (and most other firearms) are indeed picky. I too like Federal Game Shock 40 gr., but not all of my pistols do. 0 -
I agree with Hedog. You have to go out and buy about 8 different kinds, then shoot a few clips of each. Each gun is different. Nobody will be able to tell you what your gun will like to eat. You have to try them all, and hope that it likes bulk Federal.

I second the CCI velocitors. Those are one of the best, if not THE best .22LR hunting rounds in terms of using a full weight 40 grain bullet at maximum velocity. (The extra weight adds more authority at far ranges).
CCI Stingers are more zippy, but the lower mass means they lose energy faster. That also goes for the Aguila Super Max ammo, which is actually a bit hotter than the Stingers.
The problem with them and all of the high velocity .22 rounds is that they don't give you all that much advantage in pistols. They gain their high velocity by using slow burning powders that work better in long rifle barrels, not short pistol barrels.0 -
One of the guy's from a local marine unit gave me some Lapua's and they are unbeleivable.

The Marines can't be wrong but I couldn't find any " Lapua's ". I did buy some CCI velocitors and some Winchester Dynapoints for
plinkin' . Couldn't find any Wolf either.

My Buckmark Ttarget HATES the CCI Match ammo or any match ammo for that matter. Loves Winchester SuperX HP's, Yellow-jackets, and CCI Mini-Mags. The latter probably being my round of choice.
