Ever have this happen?

I bought a Ruger 10/22 for my son last Christmas. After he opened it, I looked at the rifle and noticed that the rear site was tilted to one side. The grove for the sight had actually been cut in the wrong place. This wasn't just a slight error, it was pretty obvious when you looked at it. I was rather disappointed to see that something this bad could get through to a customer. I always thought Ruger made quality stuff, but that made me think twice.

    Send it to ruger, they'll replace it.

    The dealer replaced it for me without question. Just a bit of a hassle given that I had to drive about 60 miles to get there.

    Yeah, an inspector should have caught it before it was even installed on the reciever.

    i can not imagine giving a gun to anyone, much less my children without going all over it.

    sure it was their fault but i feel you should have checked also.

    I had the same thing happen with a Winchester.I had to ship it to them twice before they replaced it? [:(] [:(!]

    I bought a new remington 870 20ga last year before squirrel season,could not hit a thing with it,backed off 25yrds and shot a big piece of cardboard to pattern it,found out it was shooting 1.5' to the left at 25yrds,barrel was bent brand new out of the box,,xxit happens with all brands.

    Yup, years ago I bought a Ruger Bisley
    44 with the front sight canted to one side.
    Sent it back and they trued it up -no charge.
    Just a pain in the neck to have to do that
    when QC could have caught it before it went out
    the door.

    I have a smith 629 that would not group under 8 inches at 25 yards, sent it back to Smith and they returned it saying it was "in spec". I bought a freedom arms and will never buy a Smith product again!

    I agree if you're talking about a used gun, but I don't expect a brand new gun to have such a glaring mistake right from the factory. You shouldn't need to inspect it.

    I had exactly the same thing happen with a
    Stevens Favorite model 30 from Savage Arms.
    I took the rifle back to the dealer & they
    sent it to the local repair facility. They
    sent it back wanting to why it had been sent
    in. The dealer then sent it to Savage & quite
    a while later I recieved a totally new rifle.
    How it could have gotten through an inspector
    is bad enough but for the repair facility
    not to see what was wrong was rediculous.
    It was not just a little off it was way out.
