Desert Eagle AE50 Barrels Mk VII, Mk XIX, etc
I have a Desert Eagle in AE50, looks like this, I'm really not sure which Mk it is, Mk I, Mk VII, etc. Maybe someone can tell me? Was wondering, I would like a 10" barrel. Since it is the AE50, will it matter which model the barrel is for?

If you have the 50AE it is the MK XIX model, so get the barrel that will fit that. If I could find the Desert Eagle parts catalog I have I can give you the exact part number...I'll look for it.

Found it. You want part # BAR5010 from Magnum Research which is described (50AE 10" Mark XIX barrel). It should run you about $450 according to Magnum Research.

From your comments, all of the AE50 caliber Desert Eagles are Mk XIX, correct? I was hoping that was the case. Also, do I have to be careful if I find another barrel at a discount, say in 44 mag, or 41, or 357? Will these all fit the Mk XIX?
I bought this thing at a gunshow here in Wichita. Had the box and two boxes of ammo. The guy wanted $1,000 for it the first day. He said he had put one box of ammo through it, and stuffed it back after firing the one box. The next day, he dropped the price to $950. An hour before the show ended, I asked him if he would take $900. He took it. Within the next hour, three different guys were coming by my table wanting to look at it. They had apparently been sweating the guy out (just as I was doing). Guess I busted their bubble. To top it off, this was a "private sale" with no FFL involved.
I got to thinking later, when he said he'd put a box of ammo through it, I was thinking 50 rounds. The two boxes he gave me had 20 rounds. I concluded the gun really only had 20 rounds through it, and it definately looks like it. It is very clean.
Unfortunately, I had to hide it from my wife (you know the drill) and have not looked at the actual gun for a few weeks. I'll have to buy her something special before I actually reveal it to her.
It looks like you know about these, and apparently have one. Redundantly, from what you say, all the .50 AE barrels will work on this? If I found a bargain on a .44 barrel or .357 barrel in a longer length, what would I have to look for as far as interchangability?

I'm almost positive that you can put the .44 and .357 barrels on your existing gun as long as they are the Mark XIX models. They only thing different with the .357 is that you also need to get a different bolt assembly. And with either, you have to get new mags. I've had my DE in 50AE for a year now and love it. Probably have only 80-100 rounds through it...would have more if the ammo wasn't so expensive. It always draws a crowd at the range! If you go out to magnumresearch.com (maker of the Desert Eagle) they should have everything you will need.

The 50AE platform is what they used when they redesigned the VII .357, .41, and .44 mag conversions. I am sure they actually had the .50 AE during the time when they only were producing the VII, but they just weren't advertising them as convertible. Since they used it as a basis for the XIX, it's a moot point anyway... I am 99% sure that all .50's have the cross bolt cuts on the slide (to secure a scope) and the wider rib. (note the cuts on only one of the guns pictured on the box below)
so as far as conversions are concerned:
VII = .357, 41, and .44 mag only.
XIX = .357, 41, .44 mag, and .50 AE.
I miss my Desert Eagle, but don't miss feeding it!0 -
I was thinking the Mk. XIX barrels all had the notches in them for mounting a scope.[?] But I could be mistaken.
