colt 1877

has anyone but me ever seen a model 1877 in 32 cal. If so what would one in average condition be worth ? thanks in advance.

    I have a Colt Model 1877 double action in 41 Long Colt and I am having trouble finding a manufacture date. Checked all of my references and the internet, but no luck. Lots of info on the 1873 SAA, but not the 1877. I know it is pre-1899, just wanted to narrow down the date a little more than that. Serial # is 335XX. Any help appreciated.

    $2,500.00 Colt Single Action Army Early Smokeless Powder. The cal is 32 WCF and I believe a 5 1/2 barrel. All the serial numbers match with it starting at 238XXX. The action is TIGHT, and there is no pitting, and along with very little original finish left. The pistol looks excellent with no observed damage. It has not been refinished. The grips are the hard plastic type, and are in excellent shape. I believe the age is 1903. Blue Book says Collectors feel that these pistols made during this time, polish, fit, and finish were as good if not better, then the early stuff and later pistols. Selling for $2500.00.

    You're not talking .32-20, are you? .32 WCF, right?

    If your referring to the "Colt Lightning, Model 1877, Double Action Revolver"? They were made in 38 Colt and 41 Colt Calibers. If you have a original one that left the Colt factory in 32 caliber, and can "PROVE IT" you have a rare and valuable revolver.

    my colt 1877 is sn.37173 mfg. 1896. the left side of the barrel is stamped COLT D.A. .32 . it has the correct patent numbers & the rampant colt on the left side of the frame. I read years ago that there were 167 32'S made but I cannot find the reference. HELP??

    WoW we would all love to see some pictures . Rufe-Snow has it right if I were you I would send off for a COLT letter .

    Are you sure its not an 1896 solid frame DA revolver with the swing out cylinder rather than an 1877? It would be much easier to believe an 1896 swing out cylinder Colt revolver in .32cal. than an 1877. The serial number would be about right for 1896. According to proofhouse.com, an 1877 Lightning with an s/n of 37173 would have been mfg. between 1882 and 1883. If an 1877 exists in .32 it would be very rare as I can find no mention of 1877 Lightnings/Thunderers in any calibers other than .38Colt and .41Colt. Photos would be great.

    Never saw one but I heard this before. If this is true it is probably for the 32 Long Colt.

    Flaydermans does mention a 32colt lightning and a few years ago the collector magazine of the NRA "MAN AT ARMS" had a big writeup on the colt lightning I can't lay my hand on my copy but you might be able to research it online.

    Big fan of the 1877's but have never seen a .32, please post a few pics. If you have trouble doing it just ask and someone from the boards that is close to you will come and help you out.

    After a little more research, I have found some references to parts for 1877 Lightning/Thunderer revolvers that list barrels and cylinders in .32Cal., so you could indeed have a fairly rare gun there. Post some pictures if you can. I think many of us would really like to see it.

    my colt is 1877 for sure corrected sn. is 97173. have tried to send pics,but no luck. any hints?
