shipping rifle

Is it legal to mail a rifle to myself since no transfer will occur? I would like to ship my prairie dog rifles to myself at a WY address of a friend. My retired postmaster shooting buddy says it is legal but I want some more opinions.

    after selling rifle on GB...do I need to receive a copy of FFL (for my records) from dealer to ship to him. Or if Dealer is registered on GB and displays copy of Lic on GB is that enough?

    yes it is legal by federal law , you shouldn't have any problems with local laws shipping it to Wy , now if it where going to Cal. or maybe NY it could be different , since its a long gun you can mail it or use UPS or fedex , just tell your friend not to open the package , you are suppose to be the one that does that

    It's not opinion, it's a fact. You CAN ship a firearm to yourself in care of another address as long as the receiving party doesn't open the box. I've done it on multiple occasions when hunting out of state. I ship extra ammunition ahead also.

    Thanks for info. Flying out will save the 30 hours of driving time.
    UPS man says we can ship ammo with him, maybe do the rifles also.
