Colt model 1903 -05 auto pistol
Would a colt model 1903 or 05 in 380 cal. make a good carry gun?. They are light and small and fit perfectly in the pocket. Are they too outdated or undependable to use as such?.

If it's mechanically sound I don't see why it wouldn't be a good gun to carry.

If you've got one in good working order, I don't see a problem. I've got several old revolvers that are still like new. If a gun is in good shape and working order it should be fine. I just wouldn't use any hot loads. Factory standard load .380 or your own reloads at standard loadings shouldn't be a problem. If you're unsure about the gun's condition, take it to a good gunsmith to have him check it out and see if he believes it to be fully servicable. 0 -
The .380 Colt Pocket Pistol is the Model 1908. If it's in original, excellent condition it would have substantial value as a collectors item. Go with a modern double-action 9mm pocket pistol, such as a Khar or a KelTec. You would be a lot better off, My 2?. 0 -
There were 1903s in .380
About half way down the page on the following link is a discussion of the 1903 Pocket and it specifically mentions it being available in .380
