I have had mine two years and love it. I shoot fairly regular and its one thats on the bench every time, fits me very good and shoots great.

I have one in .257 RBTS. I know you are looking for one in 30-06 but I think this may be relevant. The short barrel on mine isn't great for reloading slow powders and, and the extremely light barrel I think, doesn't give great harmonics for the heavier bullets. It does good enough for hunting accuracy though not great. I mean 2" @ 100 yds. with 120's. I know weight means a lot but I would consider going with the regular size for versatility of the round.

i also had the 257 roberts. i sight my hunting rifles in at 50 because most of my shots are right in that range. mine shot pretty well hole for hole at that distance. i just used the 117 gr remington factory loads. i would say recoil might be considerable in such a light rifle in 30-06 and i know it is in the remington mountain rifle, which is the closest comparison. at this point i am trying to get this gun back. i sold it in a stupid fit of collection liquidation and i regretted it immediately. i am in contact with the guy i sold it to and i am trying to work something out to get it back. i am glad he hasn't shot it yet, because if he had, he would keep it. if the 257 fits what you were intending this rifle for, i highly suggest the caliber. though the 30-06 though recoil may be semi-heavy, it shouldn't be bad enough to keep you away from purchasing this rifle. they are very nice.
