1911 conversion kits

What is the best conversion kit to put on my colt 1911???
I am looking at a wilson combat!!

    Ideally I would love to get both the 22lr and the 17hm2 conversions for my 1911 but for now I only want to have to shell out for one. does anybody out there have either of these kits or know anything about them as far as fit and compatibility with the SW1911. Also I was wondering how each compares recoil and accuracy wise both to eachother and to the 45 itself.

    My experience with the cenier conversion have been pretty good, you might also look at the colts if ya can find them.

    Hello there are 2 classes of 22 conversion unit that fit 1911 type pistols . No.1 is the target grade type MARVEL,KART, DAY. these are all capable of 1 inch 50 yard groups and recoil like a 22 pistol . Then group No. 2 is the Kimber Ceiner Colt etc. these will shoot larger groups as the only thing that holds the barrel to frame is the slide stop pin and barrel bushing. If these are fitted then 2-4 inch groups if loose you might get 8 inch groups at 50 yards.The colt ACE KIT or complete pistol with a floating is the only type that will give a larger felt recoil all the others recoil like a 22rf the 17 cal models have very little but snappy recoil.     Hello There are slight differences between all 1911 frames but for the most part the conversion units are very forgiving . and will fit just about any 1911 clone. one problem is how far up and down the magazine latches in the frame this can case feed problems.

    IMHO, the Marvel and the Wilson are two of the most accurate conversion kits offered and ones that I have experience. The Marvel kit locks the barrel to frame and the rear of the slide is only reciprocating part which gives it accuracy just as Perry Shooter says. I have a Marvel kit on order right now. I can hardly wait.

    I have a Ceiner and it does okay for my shooting. Don't shoot a lot lead only throuh it as it will not feed properly after a long session of lead. I used the copper cased rounds.
