Ruger No. 1 with composite stock?

I saw a Ruger No. 1 in stainless with a composite stock at Gander Mountain this weekend. It was pretty sweet, but not in a suitable caliber, so I didn't look at it closely. I have a new Ruger catalog at the house, but it makes no mention of a stainless No. 1 with the composite stock. All they list is that hideous grey laminate with stainless. Was this maybe a left-over from last year or something? Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking for an Antelope gun and thought the No. 1 in 25-06 would fill the bill. Many thanks! Bob

    The Ruger #1 in a 25/06 will sure make you a great Antelope rifle.
    Someone might have snuck a composit on it but I've never seen one on a stock factory #1 before.
    Your best bet is to give Ruger a call, and I'm sure they will be glad to help out.....

    I have one of those stainless 25-06 Ruger #1's with the "hideous Gray laminated stocks" rifle topped with a Nikon 4.5-14 X 40 AO Silver and it's the finest flat shooting rifle I own. Looks great too. Think you would be very happy with one. Will have one in a 7mm-08 as soon as they make one.

    Funny you should mention the 7mm-08. That's the other round I keep kicking about. What do you think of it compared to the 25-06? Remington offers the 7mm-08 in their titanium 700. Do you think the recoil would be too severe in that light a rifle?

    P.S. No offense intended to you guys shooting the laminate stock Rugers.

    The recoil of a light weight 7/08 should not be a big problem for a normal sized person.
    I love my 25's with 100 and 115 grain bullets, but the 7's have a lot more bullet selection if you need them..

    You will really like the 7MM-08 in a lightweight rifle. I got my 12 year old son a Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08 last Christmas and he shoots it well. I have a stainless as well and really like it too. I think this caliber is going to get really popular as more people find out what a great light kicking but hard hitting rifle it is. You might want to check out the Kimber rifles as well-just a little more than the Remingtons and you get to own a Kimber. It's too bad Ruder stopped making the Number 3-It would be a great rifle in 7MM-08 as well. Sorry if I got a little off the subject.
