Can anyone give me the low down with owning/having a USGI 1911/A1?
I have heard "once government propery always government property", is there any truth to that? And is there a diffrence if you bought it legitimately (FFL), or if say your father or grandfather brought it back from the war over 60 years ago?
What would happen if a cop were to run the serial numbers on a USGI 1911/A1? Thank you for your time and knowlage gentalmen.

Anybody know of a website, book or other resource that would give accurate information on the various arsenal/proof marks on USGI 1911's? Specifically a Remington Rand? 0 -
Don't sweat it. Millions are in private hands and the government lost track of them all (almost).
As long as you aquired it legitimately, there's no problem.

1911a1's were sold off when armories were closed. there are countless 1911a1's marked u.s. no sweat. its all legal. and that goes for all caliber guns too.
