Mauser Modelo 1909

I recently foound a Mauser marked Mauser Modelo Argentino 1909. It is chambered in 30-06. It is also marked "Deutsche Waffen und Munitions Fabriken, Berlin, Germany " It has what I found out to be the Argentine coat of arms on the top of the receiver. the rifle is in what I would consider to be good condition...clean barrel, not pitting, no major scratches on the stock, action works very well. What should I expect to pay for this or how much is it worth approximately? The asking price is $120. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    I would be wary of this particular rifle if it has been rechambered to 30-06 from the original 7.65 x 53mm military cartridge. The Argentine military round is approximately .004 of a inch larger in diameter then our 30-06, i.e. .312 as compared to .308. Also our loaded cartridge was approximately 1/2 inch longer then the Argentine Cartridge.

    If the rifle still has the original Argentine Military barrel take it to a KNOWLEDGEABLE Gun Smith, have him head space it with a 30-06 gauge , inspect and test fire it. Make sure that who ever rechambered it wasn't some shade tree mechanic who didn't know his rectum from a hole in the ground.

    LIKE R.S. SAID, THIS HAS BEEN RECHAMBERED FROM THE ORIGINAL 7.65/4/3X54 (DEPENDS ON THE MGF.)ARGENTINE CAL. THIS WAS VERY COMMON 20/30 YEARS AGO AS AMMO WAS A PROBLEM. BY ALL MEANS HAVE THE HEADSPACE CHECKED, MOST OF THESE SHOT RATHER WELL WITH THE UNDER SIZE .308 DIA. BULLETS. IF THIS RIFLE STILL HAS THE HINGED FLOOR PLATE ON THE TRIGGER GUARD IT IS WORTH THE PRICE JUST FOR THE ACTION.

    Like Mike wiskey said this is a very good action. It is well worth what you say just for the action. Get it before someone else does, you won't regret it.
