Sierra Gameking bullets
Anyone have current knowlege on these bullets? The BC on these are really high, I found them very accurate in the past, but almost lost a couple elk because they would explode on impact. I was shooting the 180 gr. in a .300 win mag. I want to find a 150 or 160 gr. bullet that will hold together, be accurate, and work out of a .300 RUM. Open for suggestions?

I use them for my 300 winmag and they work fine, but I use them for whitetail. I used 190 grn Hornidys in NM for elk 0 -

If you are not satisfied with Sierra Gamekings for hunting I would suggest Noslers Accubonds.
I would like to ask though that if the bullets are exploding on impact what damage are you getting with the Gamekings? I mean too broad of damage?, not broad enough, no energy absorbtion by the target? Fragmentation? Thanks in advance for info.

i use Seirra Gamekings exclusively in my rifles on deer... never lost a deer that i have hit with them either... the gamekings do have a rapid expansion and create very massive damage so i try not to hit the front shoulder blade if at all possible... tends to leave a softball size exit wound i normally run them around 3000 fps and have great results with accuracy and energy down range... 0 -
You should use heavier than 180's in any 300 mag sor game bigger than deer when using bullets of conventional design. I've had remington corelokt 180's fail to penetrate a bull's shoulder and they're an exceptional conventional design.

!50 to 160 grain bullets seem to be a bit light for use in a 300 anything on elk.
A 180 Nosler Accubond is a better choice, also a Barnes triple shock, or the excellent 180 Hornady Interbond will do a very good job.
If you really want to use a light bullet then the Barnes would be your best bet......
