Smith and Wesson model 4546

i was told only 4 guns were made of this model. Is that valid? What makes this gun different than model 4566?

  I doubt it. The M4546 is the same as the M4506, except that it is double action only. I believe that the M4566 has an ambidextrous safety lever.
  
  According to S. Fjestad's Blue Book of Gun Values, the M4546 was made in 1990 & 1991. Is it likely that S&W made 2 guns in one year, & 2 guns in the next? Or, 3 guns in one year & 1 in the other? I don't think so.

  If the production numbers are similar between the 45 and the 10mm's then it is maybe plausible.
  The 1046 is a 5" DAO pistol and there were only 151 of them made.
  
  The best way to know for sure is to contact S&W.
