remington 600 vs model 7

which is the better gun the 600 or model seven the 600 is no longer made i know but i like the gun.want to know what you think

    i would generally say it is going to come down to preference. the 600 has a dogleg bolt which many like, but others don't. they are both accurate and about the same size. i would say your choice is going to come down to whether or not you like the bolt and what caliber you want.

    I'm not an expert, but i did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

    Personally, I love the 600, but that affection is based largely on appearances. Over the years I've had several 600s and have never been able to get one to shoot as well as I thought it should. I admit that I'm not a very good shot, but I'm a pretty good reloader. I've tried working up loads to the extent of several hundred different combinations of powder, primers, and bullets all to no avail. After years of frustration I found a fellow who worked at Remington during the period when the 600 was being designed and produced and asked him about my problem. He basically said that it wasn't my problem but rather Remington's. He went on to explain that the barrels on the 600 weren't what they should be. He was a metalurgist and explained it in terms that I really didn't understand, but he convinced me that he knew what he was saying. Well, I took one of the 600s that I had been working with and had a gunsmith put on a new barrel. It now shoots great. I still can't hit the broad side of a barn, but when I give it to someone who can shoot, they generally do well with it. The moral is that if you want to go with the 600, you may want to consider rebarreling it. Best of luck. Steve

    I love my 600 Mohawk in .243.Very accurate!

    I guess I've had it longer than any other of my deer rifles.(somewhere approaching 30 years.)

    I really don't know anything about the Mod.7,but I'm sure it's a good gun,but if "investment" means anything to ya,I'd go with the 600.[;)]

    Well guys just to be different I'm gonna put a plus in for the Remington Modlel 7...in 6mm REM mag cause I built one for my boy and I loved it so much I picked one up, but traded for a 7mm REM ultra Mag Sa, and then the venerable Series 70 Gov't in 45 ACP and kept it..but still preferr the model 7...only the pre 64 Model 70 gets more attentinon in my book.
