Savage 93 17 HMR trigger is the pits-help?

Stainless - laminated stock - heavy barrel - 1/2 moa accuracy -- what mmore could I ask? Well the trigger is horable - I can't figure why Savage would do such a nice job on the rest of the rifle and put in such a POS trigger. It flops left and right - loose as a goose - slack - UGH - the actual let off isn't uncontrolable once you get all the play taken up but WHAT CAN BE DONE?

    I would say there may be something wrong. Maybe poor quality assurance. I have never seen a savage trigger that is sloppy like that.

    mbsams, I LOVE THAT RIFLE! I have the glass stock ( I am going to build a butt extension to increase the length of pull, and a higher cheek piece. I have the whole thing, including a ElPaso Weaver 3-9x painted in Camo.

    JustC has mentioned that RifleBasix makes an aftermarket trigger for the Savage. I have not gotten one yet but plan to soon (before my fox/coyote season). I know that the round is marginal for these large Eastern'yotes. But at apprx. 50 yds I have put down two 'yotes with good broadside strikes.

    I think Midway, Natchez, etc carry these. They are about $70 if I recall.

    BTW, mine LOVES the CCI heavy bullet (50 Gr 'GoldDot') that is a harder linotype lead. I get 1/2" if I do my part (at 100yds!), but more frequently it is 5/8". GREAT RIFLES!!

    Dang! I had to edit. I thought you had the 22 mag chambering, sorry. The trigger is the same.

    I've got a Mark II(same trigger group)at the house that's fixin' ta get the same treatment.Got's LOTS of wobble.I'm just gonna squeeze it.
