??liberty arms??

i have a liberty arms corp. .32 cal auto #40923
i havent been able to find any info on this gun. all i know is it's a piece of crap. i wold appreciate any info or were i can find some info about it.

    There were at least two companies distributing firearms under the name Liberty arms. One was an importer in the U.S. who used the name and brought in cheap firearms from Italy and West Germany that were manufactured by Rohm, Herbert Schmidt, and Reck. This firm seems to have been based in Montrose, California and operated under the name "LIBERTY ARMS CORP."

    The other firm, and some sources suggest this was the same firm but the locations suggest otherwise, was a company in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Another difference is that they appear to have manufactured their own pistols. There was also a third company, a Spanish firm Retolaza, that marketed at least one firearm with the "Liberty" name, but I seem to recall this was a shotgun. Best of luck -- Steve

    My references identify a number of different models of .32 auto pistols using the "Trade Name", "Liberty", not "Liberty Arms". Most are attributed to the Spanish firm, "Retolaza Hermanos" they date to the World War I era. They are of the standard "Eibar/Ruby" configuration.

    As the Liberty "Trade Name" was also used by a post World War II handgun manufacturer in what was then West Germany. It would be best if you could post pictures of your pistol for a definitive identification.

    ill see if i can borrow a friends camera and post some pic's. it look's like a walther PPK ripoff.

    If you can't get hold of the camera? Sometime the proof-marks on the pistol. ( if there are any? ) are able to identify the country of origin and date of manufacture. Give us a accurate description of all markings on pistol.
