Value of a 16 ga model 12?

My dad did a little gunsmithing many years ago. He recently passed away and I was givin a model 12 that he had worked on. It's a 16 gauge field gun. Internals are fresh. It has a very nicely figured walnut stock that has been fitted, but not finished. Needs to be blued. I'm a stack barrel, small bore lover and have no interest in the pump. Any idea of value?     Hello bob: not enough information, like barrel length, choke, plain barrel, solid rib, vintage. Md 12's in 16 ga. made before 1927 came with short chambers, (2 9/16th) The only thing I know now is the butt stock may not be original. considering that there are at least 100 varitions of this gun, there is no way anyone could give an approximate value with so little info.

    Thanks Dave. More details. Choke is improved cylinder. 2 3/4 chamber. I believe barrel is 25" if I am measuring correctly. S/N 869XXX. Barrel is plain. Forend is a simple grooved piece of plain wood. Barrel is marked "Made in New Haven, Conn. U.S. of America. Winchester Proof Steel." "Winchester Trade Mark" "2 3/4 Cham. Model 12-16 GA.     Hi Bob! Well that's what I needed, you have a pre-war Md 12, about mid 1941. Imp-Cyl chokes are not that common, the barrel should be 26 inches, measured from the bolt face, (with the action closed) to the end of the barrel, you have to include the protion that's inside the receiver along with the chamber ring.

    You said it needs "blueing", is there any rust or pits? Is the butt stock a replacement or was it original but in the process of being refinished? Right now, based on just what you've said I'd say a minimum of $350 and depending on the condition of the metal and percent of remaining blue,it could go over $500.

    If you can email me some pictures at winchester12@msn.com I might be able to give you a better idea. Of course the marketing technique used will be the most important. I would recommend GB here or one of the internet listing sites. Much better than the local paper.
