How do I remove sight?
What is the proper way to remove a rear dove tail sight on a browning auto-22? I have seen them screwed up and I want to remove this one to allow scope clearance.

You can drift it out with a 3/8 round brass rod, that has the end squared off.
Put it in a padded vise before you start, and tap it out slowly
Generally they go out from left to right looking down on it.
Most of the botched jobs were because they were not held tight in a vise.

Cartod, use a sight pusher tool made for that specific job, it sorta looks like a C-clamp and you can get one from Brownells. No vise required, and it won't mar the finish.

A sight pusher would be great if the Browning had a ledge to work from !!!
Not real sure how it would work on a round barrel. (I lied, because there is no way it will work on a round barrel)
If it seems to be hard the one way just turn it and try again. Usually they were put in only one way, and if you try to take them out the wrong way it will just loosen the dovetail is all.

I'm sure you have the proper accessories for your vise to clamp your gun into and like using a punch on your Brownings, I don't. I use the sight pusher and it works fine on round barrels and octogon.

With the gun pointing as if you are going to shoot, the sight moves to the left, I use a nylon punch, and a pistol block, both from brownells 0
