desert eagle vs 500s&w

trying to decide on one of the two if i was to get the eagle it would be in 50ae.[8D]

  Both are well made guns. I have sold both. I would lean towards the S&W because of quality and avalible ammo. The 500 with the 8 3/8 barrel comes 2 ways. Standard sights and Hi-Viz, Hi-Viz is the way to go.

  I have both, the DE has a 10" barrel, the 500 has a 8 3/8. Both a fun to shoot, and have had no problems with either of them - well except for occassionlly getting hit in the forehead with a round as it's being ejected from the DE. The DE does have a fairly large grip, so if you have smaller hands that may be a consideration for you.
  
  get them both and go make some noise, have fun.

  de 50ae is my choice. the rifling makes them pretty accurate. i can shoot them same hole at 50yds. 44 mag kits just drop in too.

  I don't think that you can go wrong with either of these firearms. Both are well made and will hold up for decades of shooting enjoyment.
  
  The only thing that I would suggest is to physically hold and test fire, if possible, an example of each. The ergonomics of the grips are very different from one another. As bigbangjohnny points out, if you don't have the hand size to hold and control the Desert Eagle, look at another gun. It will be very uncomfortable for someone with smaller hands to hold and nearly impossible for them to control.
  
  Also consider when and where you're going to use these. Going to and from the range is one thing but if you're thinking about hunting or carrying with either one, you need to look at holsters first. Each one of these is very heavy by comparison to most other handguns and the holster, again like the grip, will make a major difference in your comfort.
  
  Take some time to study the fit and feel of both of these before making a decision, Lord knows they ain't cheap! I highly suggest taking any opportunity that you can to fire both as well. Some folks just plain can't cope with the recoil no matter how tough they think they are. Recoil in both guns is significant even with a "muzzle tamer". I've shot both a lot and it took me a bit of time to learn the control aspects of heavy recoil in handguns. Hopefully you reload or plan to learn to reload for these two since ammunition costs will mount up fast. Besides, there's more joy in shooting your own handmade cartridges!

  i have held both and like them both fine but i like the DE a little better. tried to find some holesters and found plenty for the 500 and nothing for the DE does any one now where to get any
