Hawthorne 4x scope
I recently bought a used (and dusty) remington model 722 in 300 savage at a local gunshow. According to the Blue Book of Gun Values remington discontinued this model in 300 savage in 1959. The rifle appears to have been used, but well cared for and it wears a hawthorne 4x scope. The scope is very clear, gathers light well and is still on target. I'm curious about the brand, it's origin, it's quality, and what it might be worth. The model 722, by the way, has crisp rifling, is accurate, and feels similar to a Kimber in 308. I guess they do reinvent the wheel every once in awhile.

If I remember correctly the Hawthorne line was from Monkey Wards, The Hawthorne name was put on guns made by Savage, Marlin? ect. As far as who made your scope for them,,,,,,hard to say. Value,,,vintage to rifle but would get a modern scope if you are actually going to hunt with your rifle..imo nambu 0
