Double barrel insert replacements

Is there someone that makes insert to change a 12ga to a 20 or 16 ga? If so who and how much does it cost? Thanks

    Yes. I don't remember who, but I seem to recall they ran $35 a few years ago.

    Savage made bore reducers years ago. Browning now offers Little Skeeters, Briley, Seminole and Kolar make both partial and full length tube reducers(at a higher cost), and Chamber Mates. Check out www.cabelas.com under gauge reducer for one source. The simple, short ones usually are around $40 to $60 a set. The full length tubes get a lot more expensive, from $500 to $600 per set (12 ga. reducers for 20/28/.410 in a set). They can also be had for 20 ga. ect. Check also www.briley.com and others for more info.

    Thanks for the information, however if I am to do this it seems I will have to do a complete setup. In other words a barrel inside a barrel. (Now comes the flak) The shotgun that this plan has a Damascus twist barrel. I know it would be safer to get a new shotgun, however this one belonged to my grandfather and is a great shooter. I wanted to see if there was a safe way that I could still use this gun instead of hanging it on the wall. Also a very big deciding factor is if I go through this will it be SASS legal? If not then I just have to bite the bullet and get a new double barrel with exposed hammers. Thanks

    Go to the Briley site. They have made what you want to do a specialty. However, it can be quite expensive, so if this isn't a classic double (like a high grade Fox, a Purdey or some such), you really, really have to want to bring the old girl to life. Better yet, call Briley and tell them what you have and where you want to end up, I'm sure they could give a pretty good idea of the cost. But they, if anyone, can give you a safe shooter in the end.
