Hot Factory Ammo in BAR ?
A friend wants to know which if any of the factory hot ammo such as Heavy Mags and HE's to avoid in his Browning Bar 1971 300 Win. mag. He said there's nothing on the box's to preclude shooting them. Advice???

a high energy round round will run at max pressures. the gas operation system of the semi-auto design will suffer from an excess of pressures which are what make it function as a semi-auto. The high energy or light mag stuff are usually a blend of several powders and are very compressed. I would tell him to try other premium ammunitions and skip the high energy stuff.
as a side note,..I spent some time upon request with a new hunter and a donated semi-auto remington and the fed high energy stuff, helping him get settled in and on paper. They were not very impressive in this type rifle, and from what I could see on the empty casings, the generous chamber size used for semi-auto hunting rifles was enough that the primers were ever so slightly backed out of the pocket on fired cases.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
