American Arms PX 22 ?

Anyone have an opinion on the American Arms PX 22? Same as Iver Johnson TP 22? How well made, ease of use ...take down, cleaning...reliable, accurate. Compare to a TPH? Any info welcome, thanks.

    Never owned an American Arms pistols. My observation of the one your asking about is that it's a Walther PPK clone assembled in the U.S. from parts mainly produced in Germany by Erma, ( EP-552 ). Quality wise I don't believe it's in the same league with the original "German Produced", Walther TPH's.

    Do to the Gun Control Act of 1968, the Erma made PPK clones Ep-552 - 752 S, weren't importable. First Iver Johnson then American Arms got around this by assembling the pistols in the U.S. with the required number of American made parts to make them legal. The American Arms & Iver Johnson pistols are the same as the German made Erma's except for cosmetics.

    when compared to the walther tph both the iver johnson tp and the american arms px are a little on the fat side. i have found them to be just as reliable and about one half the cost as the tph. erma worke made some very good products and in the case of the i.j. tp and am. arms px have a added firing pin safety that makes it impossibe for the firing pin to reach the cartridge unless the trigger is pulled. when the slide mounted safety is applied the firing pin is blocked at both ends by harden steel.

    Picked one up a few months ago. Shoots fine, well made, another nice little gun, imo..nambu

    I've owned three American Arms 22's. I won't buy another.
    I still own 4 Iver Johnson TP22's; they are NOT the same as far as quality goes.
    The Ivers will shoot anything I load them with (in 22lr), are very accurate (considering the rear sight is two bumps of metal), and continue to shoot after the first shot without jamming.
    American Arms made 3 different looking pistols in 22lr; a PPK "clone", a 1911 lookalike, and the PX22; none function or feed as well as any of my Ivers.

    Hey, gunnut505. You mentioned only 3 of the 4 models listed in American Arms' Instruction Manual they pack with each new gun. I collect .22rf look-alikes of military weapons. I was fortunate enough to obtain an American Arms Model P98, unfired, in original box, with extra mag and Instruction Manual. Looks like a miniaturized Walther P-38 9mm. Even had the cosmoline loaded plastic packing bag. I can't speak to its firing capability and reliability, I can only speak to its outward appearance which was all I was interested in.
