my buddy has a savage 30-06 for sale, he wants $260 is this a fair price

    I am thinking of purchasing a savage 110e 30-06 ,is this a good rifle?I hear the out of the box accuracy is a big positive...I guess I am asking is what is this gun worth and is there anything particular or secrets about this gun I should know about..The bluing is good and has a wood stock...

    I was using Russian surplus ammo.

    You may need to polish the chamber. You can use a tight fitting brush with a patch wrapped around it,..and lapping compound, then chuck it in a drill and have at it. Was this ammo by any chance laquer coated and steel cased? how old is it?

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    I believe your problem is in the ammo.
    try a few rounds of factory sporting ammo and see if your problem doesn't go away .

    I second what D.S. Cole said. Change ammo. Especially if you've looked in the chamber and it's clean. Secondly if you notice that the shells go in relatively easy....they should come out that way. Unless you've got some really hot ammunition. That is probably why it's sticking

    But especially in a Savage. My buddy's brand new Savage 30-06 had the same problem with the same ammo. You'll want to clean all that laquer out of your chamber now, too.

    Hmmmmm.....if the Russians made .30-06 military ammo, it was probably for U.S. supplied machine guns during WWII.

    In any case, the Russians frequently applied a laquer coating to their ammo to waterproof it, and this will build up in your chamber. Laquer coated ammo is OK for Russian military firearms as they have pretty loose tolerances.....but not for your Savage which is made with a tighter parts fit.
