Bersa Info

I am needing information on the quality of Bersa firearms. I have never dealt with this make before. I am torn between the Beretta Tomcat (I stand by my Berettas [:D]) and a Bersa .380 (not sure what the guy called it but it is compact). I am researching a little on the net but I thought I would post in here since it has helped in the past.

    If your talking about a Bersa Thunder they are very difficult to beat for the price.They are great little guns.

    wesleyscrivner, I'm a .380 fan. My experience with them consists of the Bersa Thunder, Beretta 84, Sig 230, and the Astra Constable. Of these my LEAST favorite is the Bersa. Least accurate, Least reliable, Least quality. It depends on what you use the gun for. The gun IS a value at $190 if your life doesn't depend on it. Bersa quality is below these other guns I've mentioned. They are all the same size and weight (roughly), very comparable in every way but quality and thus their price. IMHO a Good used Sig, Beretta 84/85, Astra is better than a new Bersa.

    I've no experience with a Tomcat other than holding one. My current CCW pocket gun is a Seecamp. No knock on the Beretta ...I like Berettas...but I'll keep my jewel of a Seecamp.

    I own a Bersa Thunder 380 it is a great little gun. Very compact and light weight. Mine has a tight group at 25 yards. I have not had any problems out of mine no misfires or jams of any kind. One of my friends liked mine so much he went out the next day and bought one for himself. If you get it you will like it. I promise you that.

    ripley16...you must have gotten one of the very rare "bad" ones. Everyone I know that has one loves it, especically compared to the Walther, of which the Bersa is a copy. As far as my life depending on it, I carry it more than any other pistol I own. It has NEVER had a FTF or FTE with ANY ammo I have put through it. The trigger was stiff as the dickens when new, but after about 500 rounds, it smoothed up and is now very good. As I said the first time, I love mine and would not hesitate to recommend one to someone else.

    iluvguns...Don't want to argue but, I didn't say it was a bad gun. I said compared to others IMHO it is not the same quality, fit/finish, accuracy, etc. If you are able to shoot and or examine the guns I listed as comparable there is no way the Bersa is the superior weapon. Some people love them...that's fine, I own one also. It's fun to plink with but I'll trust my life to my Beretta or a Sig.
