Herter's Single Six
I have a single six in .44 cal that was manufactured by Herter's. I haven't been able to find much information about this gun. I traded for it just because I had not owned a large cal. handgun. I wanted to try something cheap before sinking money into a nicer specimen. This seems to be a pretty good shooter and appears to be made well. Does anyone have any information on this gun?

Herter's was a Minnesota-based importer & had a large catalog sales business in the '60s & 70's. They imported many guns & reloading equipment from different manufacturers with the Herter's name on them. Their revolvers were strong, but not well finished. They were made in W. Germany, I would guess by Rohm.

Hello I know Herters made a 401"POWERMAG" but I dont' remember their 44 mag the gun was made for them in Germany .They were safe to shoot but never had the following of some of the big name makers. 0 -
I always understood that Sauer made the Powermag revolvers for Herters. I don't specifically remember one chambered for 44 Mag though. The 401 was the one, I'm familar with. It sold for substantially less then the Rugers in the 60's, but I was always dubious of Herters Quality after I bought one of their deringers.

Guns were mfg. by J.P. Sauer in W.Germany.They came in .357 mag,44 mag. and .401 Powermag which I have two.I was going to post a photo but have misplaced it.I have and old Herter catalog in which the guns are pictured.Shown below.[:)] 0
