stevens model 200 thoughts/impressions

i got a flyer today from a gun store and they have a stevens model 200 advertised. its available in 223 243 308 3006 7mm mag and 300 mag.

well i really want a bull bbl varmint gun in 223 but i wanted to ask opinions on this gun.

i really think i will end up with a savage 12bvss 223 or a ruger 77 target 223 but this does look interesting at the 279.00 price.

IT IS TRUE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR but what do you get for this?

  My distributor tells me the Stevens 200 is the Savage 110 without the accu-trigger.

  It is the old 110 without the accutrigger, and in a cheaper stock. I have also seen them in 25-06, 270, and 280. For the cost you will be hard pressed to find a rifle that will shoot better.

  A friend of mine bought one in 223.He brought to me with a 40 dollar Simmons 3x9x40 to mount.When I got it put together we took it to the range and the best 5 shot group was .665.Not bad for a set up that cost little over 300 bucks.
